“RESEARCH IS THE CURE”

Foundation Mission

The Emilie Rosebud Diabetes Research Foundation was founded in 1998 with the sole mission of finding a cure for diabetes.  Funds are contributed through individuals, foundation, companies and fund-raising events.  Contributions received are “ALL”  used specifically to fund research to specific doctors and clinics which are working on ground breaking research to cure diabetes.

The Directors of the Emilie Rosebud Diabetes Research Foundation spend a considerable amount of time locating doctors throughout the country with the assistance of American Diabetes Association, Juvenile Diabetes Association, Children's Mercy Hospital Diabetic Department and other experts in the field to locate the projects which are in need of funding in order to continue cutting edge research with the hopes of finding a cure for diabetes.  This foundation and its events have aided our mission to contribute up to 100%  of every dollar contributed directly to the doctors for research.

Past Event

The Emilie Rosebud Diabetes Research Foundation had a world premier event for the movie “The Mummy” in May 1999 which also was the grand opening of the Cinemark 13 screen multi theater complex on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri.  This event for the Rosebud Foundation was a tremendous success and had numerous sponsors including Sprint PCS, Glimcher Development, Block and Company Realtors and dozens of other companies as well as a ribbon cutting by the mayor and an appearance by one of the major stars in the movie.  There were over 2,000 supporters and contributors at the event and a brochure and pictures of the activities is also shown on this website.  This event raised over $100,000 for the Foundation.  We have many events each year which are posted on our web site.

Diabetes Facts

Diabetes at the present time has no cure and is estimated to affect over 16 million Americans, many of whom are not aware they have the disease.  Diabetes and the associated illnesses which  occur are considered to be one of the largest drain on the American healthcare system due to all of the additional medical conditions which are caused by diabetes including amputation, heart problems, loss of sight, liver damage, blood vessel damage and numerous other ancillary conditions which will continue to drain our healthcare dollars until such time as a cure is found.

Research for diabetes is a necessity and your help is needed.  Nearly every family in the U.S. either has a  family member with diabetes or is a friend of someone who has  diabetes.  Please write to us or look on our website to be notified of any of our future events which are typically two to three times per year, or please make a donation. These events include entertainment complex openings, restaurant openings, musicals and formal dinner and dance events.  We also appreciate any ideas or opportunities from you where the Emilie Rosebud Diabetic Research Foundation can further our cause.  If you have any questions, please feel free to call c/o DMB at (816) 412-7400, fax (816) 932-5501
